The main event will be Afternoon
Tea at the famous Bewley's on Grafton Street and there is an optional visit to
the Gaiety Theatre in the evening for Riverdance.
For over 175 years Bewley’s has
had a special place in the hearts of Dubliners. It has recently reopened after
extensive renovations. Founded in 1840, Bewley’s is Ireland’s leading café having
perfected the craft of tea and coffee making over many generations, from humble
beginnings in a little shop on Sycamore Alley in Dublin, Ireland, to the home
and heart of the brand in Bewley’s Grafton Street, which extends right through
to the world-class coffee, roastery and tea blending facilities in North County
Dublin, as well as in the United Kingdom and the United States.
Bewley's is spacious and light, with luminous new white carrera marble floor, plus the famous Harry Clarke stained glass windows which are now visible from the entrance following the renovations. The mahogany panelling, velvet upholstered banquettes – many in cosy private booth formations – and original marble-topped tables surrounded by bentwood chairs, are all back in place in the series of rooms at Bewleys that have been offering beverages and buns since 1927.
