Sharing Australian Red Hat Information

Elvis might have sung “What a Night it Was” but the Red’n Purple Ragers and their guests at the 14th Anniversary party at Secrets on the Lake were singing and saying “WHAT A DAY IT WAS!” – all 74 of them.

Queen Mum Julie and her band of willing helpers (her special thanks went to ‘Princess Pati Perfect’ Brennan and Frannie Kosenko) had this beautiful restaurant (which is set in the National Forest and overlooking Lake Baroon) decked out in lots of red – cute table centre-pieces made by Frannie Kosenko’s ‘Prince Paul’ were a big hit, as were the ‘favour boxes’ in shape of little birthday cakes, filled with Cadbury’s roses – Roses on the tables – plus ‘rosettes’ for each lady and ‘blinged up’ place cards. Nothing was missed!

Guests who were welcomed included Sue (who is transferring from another chapter), Wait List ladies to be ‘reducted’ at the August lunch - Marg, Noela, Marie – Joan’s friend from WA-  Leslie and Charlie’s wife Dorothy PLUS Queen Marivi and her ladies of The Round Table, Empress Redpepper and her Redpeppers of Morton, Queen Marlene (Gadabout Queens)and Queen Dorothy and her Bling Babes.

Roz – who had the ‘gold candle’ on her favour box – won the lucky door prize – a bottle of Moet Chandon champers and everyone knows how much Rozzie loves a good bottle of champers, so an apt winner. The great raffle prizes were very popular.

The management and staff at Secrets on the Lake went all out to keep everyone happy with service and great food – plus the wines kept flowing! Special thanks to Di who supervised the service and setting up- she definitely deserves a day off now! (The big gas heaters and fluffy blankets were a very big hit as the restaurant is open the bush setting)

Ever popular “Totally Charlie” provided wonderful music for the ladies and even Queen Julie belted out a couple of popular and bouncy jazz songs, much to the delight of the ladies (and we think surprise of Charlie!)

The restaurant was still open for business to public – normally this is a venue for a ‘quiet, romantic meal’ so the visitors from New Zealand and the couple celebrating their 22nd wedding anniversary will remember this day for a long time!

The ladies were transported on 2 buses to the venue and we think the bus drivers will be talking about their ‘day out’ for  some time too, as they were encouraged to join the conga line and enjoyed the same meal as the ladies – but especially the driver who left 5 behind and had to come back – would you believe, but the main workers (including Queen Julie) were in this little ‘select’ group – while waiting they decided to have a glass of wine and when the bus arrived back “they had to wait until the girls finished their wine! – Queens Orders!!”

A number of ladies were on their ‘phones to Jason at Seniors Travel to book their cabin for the Cruise’n Groove Elvis Tribute cruise November 2018 so that they don’t miss out on that adventure – especially when Queen Julie announced that there was to be a ‘random draw’ prior to the sail date (for red hatter bookings only) and one lucky person will win the value of their cruise back!! If you haven’t seen the promotion on “Coming Events 2018” have a look now and get that booking made!

A little bird told us that there are a few ladies either ‘taking the pledge’ or having an AFD today!!
